Nature's Story

Moss Agate is a variety of chalcedony distinguished by branching mineral inclusions rather than actual plant material. These dendritic patterns typically form when iron or manganese minerals become suspended in silica-rich solutions as the stone develops.

The sparkling cavities formed where open spaces remained within the growing stone. Over time, mineral-rich fluids deposited tiny quartz crystals along the walls of the cavities, while later mineralization produced the larger calcite crystals seen within one pocket.
