Agate and chalcedony form as silica-rich fluids move through cavities in rock, gradually depositing layers of microscopic quartz. When an open space remains within the forming agate, larger quartz crystals can grow along its interior surfaces, creating the sparkling druzy seen here.

This piece preserves that transition beautifully. Dense white chalcedony surrounds an open cavity coated in tiny quartz crystals, while the opposite side exposes more translucent crystalline growth.
