Druzy Agate Diamond – #12

This polished agate diamond is built around an incredible open crystal pocket. Soft blue-gray and smoky translucent agate surrounds the cavity in intricate bands, with crisp white fortification-style patterning tracing its irregular edge.Inside, the piece opens into a sparkling druzy-lined vug filled with tiny crystals in shades of white, gray, and charcoal. The contrast is fantastic: smooth polished agate on the exterior, then a completely natural crystalline interior left exposed. Turn the piece and the story continues. Blue-gray banding travels through multiple faces, with angular patterns, translucent areas, and small pockets of crystalline texture appearing throughout the stone. The asymmetrical diamond carving gives it a modern sculptural shape while preserving the natural cavity as the centerpiece.

Condition note: There is a break/chip at the very tip of the point, visible in the photos. The piece is priced with this condition taken into consideration.

Nature’s Story

 Agate forms when silica-rich fluids repeatedly deposit microscopic layers of quartz and chalcedony inside cavities in rock. Changes in mineral content and conditions during formation can produce the distinct bands, colors, and patterns seen throughout the stone. This piece also preserves an open vug—a cavity where crystals had room to grow inward rather than being completely filled by later silica. That difference in growth creates the dramatic transition from smooth, tightly banded agate to the sparkling druzy crystal pocket at its center.
